About Bill Murphy
I graduated from Humber College Advertising and Graphic Design program. Then developed a retail background with Games Workshop. This lead to helping set up their Canadian Headquarters. As we grew I did promotions and customer service for Mail-order. Quickly moved into different management roles. This grew my leadership skills. Always had a creative graphic involvement there. I did leave to fully pursue and develop my graphic design career. I gained fashion experience at Explorer Headgear. Worked with many brands including; Tommy Hilfiger, XBox, Molson, Sears, and Mike Weir Golf.
Soon after I landed a position in newspapers. I redesigned movie ads for all across Canada. This moved me to The Mississauga News where I developed my graphic design skills even more. Over time I became a team leader and the go to for creativity and technical problem-solving. I worked closely with the
co-op program. I enjoy learning and mentoring designers, co-workers, and youth. I was team lead on many projects and took Metroland leadership courses. I constantly learn as much as I enjoy teaching.
It is humbling to see myself as an expert. Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign are my daily tools. These are programs that always keep me excited to learn more. Mentoring at Ladies Learning Code, for me, is very enjoyable. This organization motivates women in the tech industry. I've mentored in Adobe products with them.
Through all this time I have my own creative business PurpleAlien.net. This is where I use my graphic design and illustration skills to solve creative problems. PurpleAlien.net is the business side of my creativity. Building brands and flyers, digital signage and showroom marketing pieces. The work varies. It is always interesting and exciting.
Enjoy the samples. I would love to chat about anything creative.
